President's Welcome Page
LTC Frank Sparacino USA (Retired)
Welcome to the Web site of the Military Officers Association of Western New York (MOA of WNY), a chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). MOAA and all its affiliated chapters are nonpartisan. This chapter serves the eight counties of Western New York State. Our chapter has been in existence since 1972. We are proud of our heritage and continue to provide our members and their families outstanding support as well as supporting the goals of our National Headquarters. On this Web site you will find links to our local chapter activities and to other New York state chapters, our state Council of Chapters, and our National Headquarters Web sites. In addition, there are links to other military and veterans sites as well. MOA of WNY conducts four Board of Directors meetings throughout the calendar year to plan and execute the business of our organization. Most of the Board meetings are conducted at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Union Avenue, Cheecktowaga. Locations for chapter activities vary based on the type of event. Our member activities include winter and summer speakers series, an annual summer garden party alternating with our Canadian neighbor Royal Niagara Military Institute at Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York or Navy Hall at Niagara-on-the –Lake, Canada, and an annual holiday dinner meeting. In addition our members participate in numerous military and civic events throughout the year including the Annual Armed Forces Week activities (second largest such event in the US), Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Veterans Day events, and presentations of medals to Junior and Senior ROTC units at local high schools and colleges in our area. Additionally, we participate in our mid-year and annual Council of Chapters meetings hosted by various chapters throughout  the state. If you are or have ever been an officer in any of the services of our military, you are eligible to join us. Check in on our membership link and complete  an application to join our chapter. If you have any suggestions, comments or questions please contact our Webmaster, by using the link on our Home Page.
